Kathmandu, March 21: The construction of the Dhalkebar-Bara section under the Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inaruwa 400 kV transmission line project has been completed.
The Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inaruwa transmission line is under construction to strengthen and make reliable the electricity transmission system within the country and to expand the electricity trade between Nepal and India.
The 100-km transmission line from Dhalkebar substation in Dhanusha to Saraswati Danda on the border of Bara and Makawanpur through Mahottari, Sarlahi and Rautahat in the west has been completed.
The 154-km 400 kV double circuit transmission line from Dhalkebar of Dhanusha to Inaruwa Substation at Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-4 in Sunsari has been completed and has come into operation since last June.
A circuit of the around 60-km 400 kV transmission line from Dhalkebar to the forest near Chandranigahapur (Chapur) Bazaar of Rautahat has been brought into operation at 132 kV to further ease the flow of electricity from Dhalkebar to the west.
The 400 kV transmission line was charged to 132 kV through 'tapping' at the place in the presence of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising on Thursday.
NEA Managing Director Ghising said the 400 kV transmission line that has been completed has been charged at 132 kV to remove the obstacles in the existing infrastructure to supply electricity from Dhalkebar to the west and vice-versa.
"Additional electricity can be imported from India in the day from Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur inter-country transmission line to address the current energy shortage seen in winter.
It will allow water from semi-reservoir projects like Kulekhani Reservoir, Upper Tamakoshi, Kaligandaki, Marsyangdi and Madhya Marsyangdi to be stored in the afternoon and used at night for power generation.
This will make it easier to manage the power supply from Dhalkebar to the west," Ghising said. (RSS)
