Kathmandu, March 21: The Public Account Committee (PAC) of the House of Representatives has decided to investigate 48 complaints and conclude it within 15 days.
Today's meeting of the committee decided to form seven thematic task forces to study the complaints, according to committee president Rishikesh Pokharel.
"Within seven days, the committee secretariat will seek feedback from the concerned authorities regarding all the complaints and the complaints will be taken to a decision within 15 days,” he said.
Among the complaints selected by the committee, six are related to Nepal Telecom, five are related to Securities Board and six are related to Civil Aviation Authority, Lumbini Development Trust and Nepal Airlines Corporation under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Similarly, others complaints selected by the Committee for study are related to Nepal Scouts, Nepal Television, Department of Foreign Employment, Ministry of Finance, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), crusher industries, Nepal Electricity Authority, mobile banking, Telecommunication Authority, the Department of Health Services, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sports Council and the Ministry of Urban Development.
There are also complaints related to the return of government land, purchase of SIM locators of the Central Bureau of Investigation, insurance and gravelling of road.
The sub-committee formed under the coordination of committee member Sanjay Kumar Gautam had recommended investigation into only 48 out of the 100 complaints received since the formation of the committee on April 28, 2023.
According to the sub-committee members, among the remaining 52 complaints, some are being investigated by the CIAA, cases are going on in the court on some complaints and the allegations made in some of the complaints are motivated only by bias or prejudices while some of the complaints do not come within the purview of the committee and they lack complete truth.
The meeting also directed the sub-committee to submit its report within the next 15 days to investigate the alleged irregularities in the construction of Pokhara and Bhairahawa airports. (RSS)
