Preparation on for Nepal's graduation to developing country

Kathmandu, March 19: The Finance Ministry has started homework for the implementation of national strategy to secure Nepal's graduation to a status of developing country from a least developed country.     

At a meeting organised at the Finance Ministry, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel directed all employees to involve and coordinate to intensify the preparation.     

Vice-Chair of the National Planning Commission Prof Dr Shiva Raj Adhikari stressed the need of moving ahead with robust coordination among all sides by making the transitional strategy relevant and timely. The preparation needs to chip in policies, plans and programmes to be proposed in course of preparing budget for the coming fiscal year 2025/26.     

Adhikari mentioned that reliable access to development and commercial investment, contribution in development of new business and economic partnership have been expected in Nepal after its graduation to the developing country.     

Impact on export and employment sector is also conjectured after Nepal's graduation to a status of developing country. Nepal is scheduled to be graduated to the developing country from a least developed country in November 2026.(RSS)
