Patan (Lalitpur), March 17: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said attention should be paid in implementing the federalism making it responsible towards the people.

At a programme organized by the Nepali Congress Federal Affairs Coordination Department at the party headquarters, Sanepa, on Monday, President Deuba shared, "Authority should be given to local levels and provinces by keeping the activities of making all levels responsible. Let us all be serious to provide rights taking the country's economic situation into account. Unity of the country should not be disturbed at any cost."

He lauded the role played by different NC departments to make the party dynamic. "All departments of the party are carrying out sound activities. They have made party dynamic and vibrant to party leaders and cadres. It's really good."

"As per the constitutional provision, it was difficult for any political party to get majority. Alliance has become a compulsion for all parties but it is necessary for us to be active in order to get majority of vote," he argued.

Saying that the federalism could not be strengthened imposing tax on people, NC Vice-President Dhanaraj Gurung, pointed out the need of connecting people with production.

"The state will be strong only if production can be increased. Priority should be given for capital formation. Attention should be paid to restructure federalism, reduce number of lawmakers and increase production," he shared.

Similarly, NC Joint General-Secretary Mahalaxmi Upadhyay 'Dina' stressed the need of serious discussion on the issues that could not be implemented by identifying the good aspects seen in course of federalism implementation.

Likewise, leaders Bhishma Raj Angdambe, Gopal Man Shrestha, Bimalendra Nidhi, Arjun Narasingh KC and Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, among others put forth their views on the occasion.(RSS)
