BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Solukhumbu, Mar. 16: Hom Bahadur Magar, Ward Chairman of Solududhkunda Municipality-10 in Solukhumbu district, has provided financial assistance of over Rs. 3.1 million to the families affected by a landslide that claimed the lives of five people from two families in Tapting of Ward No. 10.
After a devastating landslide hit Tapting and Gorakhani last October, resulting in the deaths of five individuals from two families, Ward Chairman Magar initiated a fundraising campaign, collecting Rs. 3,104,293.
Kamal Magar, husband of the deceased Kavita Magar, received Rs. 490,229 in cash for house reconstruction. Additionally, Rs. 2.61 million has been deposited in a fixed account at a bank in the district headquarters for 10 years to support the education of four orphaned children who lost their parents in the disaster. Each child has been allocated Rs. 653,516.
Ward Chairman Magar stated, “The funds have been raised and distributed to secure the future of children affected by the natural disaster.” He expressed gratitude to all contributors and emphasised that, as a representative working closely with the people, it was his responsibility to support the affected families and children.
Despite losing their family members, the affected families expressed relief and hope due to the ward's humanitarian efforts. Additionally, the two children of flood victim Gelje Tamang from Gorakhani, who had previously received Rs. 40,000, were granted an additional Rs. 70,000 in aid.
