By Our Correspondent,Hile, Mar. 11: A group of international theatre artists is now staging street dramas in various cities of Dhankuta.
The Kopche Punarjagaran Abhiyan has organised the performances with the support of Sarwanam Theatre Group in Dhankuta Municipality, Ward 5, Kopche.
A total of 40 artists from 17 countries, including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, South Korea, the Philippines, and Japan, have participated.
The plays have been staged in both tangible and intangible forms.
Since many of the artists are foreigners, most of the performances have been presented in the intangible form.
According to Ujjwal Karmacharya, Secretary of Kopche Punarjagaran Abhiyan, plays from seven different countries have been showcased in Dhankuta.
It is said that the street play from Dhankuta will be performed in Bangkok, Dhaka, Kathmandu, Seoul, Bhubaneswar, Lille, Shanghai, Busan, Hong Kong, London, Singapore, Chengdu, Manila, Taipei, Cheongsam, Kaohsiung, Osaka, Tokyo, and other locations.
Additionally, Limbu’s Dhol dance and the Newar community’s Kumari dance were also showcased.
One local, Rajendra Pradhan said that the street play was expected to make a significant contribution to cultural exchange as well as to the promotion of local tourism.
