'Consideration to environmental aspect important'

Birgunj, March 9: Stakeholders and experts have said that environmental and economic aspects should be taken into consideration in forest management. 

At a programme on Sustainable Forest Management organized by Division Forest Office, Parsa, on Sunday, the speakers suggested that the forest resources should be viewed both fro environmental and economic viewpoints.   

Prof Dr Rajesh Kumar Rai of Institute of Forestry of TU said that it was crucial to look at people's livelihood and benefits to them while raising the issues of forest conservation. It is required to utilize forest as a resource while working on forest management, Prof Dr Rai said.  

Likewise, Director at Forest Directorate of Madhes Province, Jagannath Prasad Jaisawal, said that we must pay attention to the sustainability of forest resources and partnership of all was needed for its conservation.

Also speaking at the event, Divisional Forest Officer of Division Forest Office, Parsa, Manjur Ahammad said that the parts of leasehold forest and community forest were prioritized in Parsa for forest conservation.  (RSS)
