By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 3: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has officially appointed Matt Ross as the head coach of the Nepal national football team, with the announcement made on Sunday.

ANFA stated, "Ross has signed an initial one-year contract," which was signed by General Secretary Kiran Rai on behalf of ANFA.

The Australian coach arrived in Nepal a month ago, but the formal announcement regarding his appointment was made only on Sunday.

His appointment comes just three weeks before the Asia Cup Qualifiers. The Nepal FA has announced that Ross will unveil his work plan on Monday.

Holding a UEFA Pro License, Ross previously coached the South Korean national women’s team from 2020 to 2023.

The Nepal men's team has been without a coach since the termination of former coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese's tenure eight months ago.

Under Ross's leadership, Nepal will compete in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers for 2027. His first challenge will be an international friendly match against Singapore on March 21, where Singapore will host Nepal at the National Stadium.

This match is part of Nepal's preparation for their upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers against Malaysia on March 25.
