KU to arrange credit transfer of semester system from foreign universities

Patan (Lalitpur), March 1: The Kathmandu University (KU) is bringing into practice the 'credit transfer' of the students of various universities abroad of their remaining semesters based on the certificate of passing the semester at the respective level.     

Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof Dr Achyut Wagle said that the decision was made after discussions between the university officials and students facing problems in the universities abroad.     

During the discussion on the issue on Friday, it was informed that it would be easier for the embattled students to study remaining semesters after presenting evidence of completing the course in one semester in universities abroad.     

"We haven't thought much about the study fee, the remaining semesters can be transferred here for study. The degree belongs to Kathmandu University. It is our effort to ease those wishing to study. We will also make arrangements for taking the examination here for those having completed their studies in different universities," he said.     

Acting VC Wagle said though KU did not have a formal agreement with KiIT University in Odisha, initiatives should be taken to facilitate the current issue through diplomacy to academic discussions.     

"The fees will be managed in a way to facilitate those willing to pursue education and take the exam by transferring the course," he said.     

Shyam Sundar Khadka, associate dean of the KU School of Engineering, said that they would facilitate the policy matter since arrangement has been put in place to take the examination for those completing courses in various universities.(RSS)
