By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 19: Above 94 per cent of paddy plantation has been completed across the country.
According to the Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agricultural and Livestock Development, paddy plantation in around 94.15 per cent of the total paddy fields has been done by Sunday (August 17, 2025).
The paddy has been planted in 1.29 million hectares of the total paddy fields of 1.38 million hectares across the country.
The paddy plantation has been lower by almost 4.3 percentage points by August 18 this year compared with the same period last year.
The plantation had been completed in around 98.44 per cent of total paddy fields by August 17, 2024.
According to the Department, paddy plantation has been completed in Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces for this year.
However, paddy plantation is still ongoing in Koshi, Madhes and Gandaki provinces.
The highest paddy plantation has been done in Sudurpashchim Province followed by Karnali and Lumbini Province.
According to report, paddy has been planted in almost 99.72 per cent (175,652 hectares) of the total paddy fields in Sudurpashchim Province as of Sunday. Paddy is cultivated in around 176,151 hectares in the Sudurpashchim Province.
Similarly, paddy has been planted in 99.34 per cent (40,470 hectares) in Karnali Province and 98.07 per cent (297,103 hectares) in Lumbini Province.
The paddy is cultivated in 40,884 hectares in Karnali and 302,939 hectares in Lumbini Province.
Likewise, 97.27 per cent (112,460 hectares) paddy plantation has been completed in Bagmati Province so far and 94.83 per cent (89,311 hectares) in Gandaki Province.
The paddy is cultivated in 115,621 hectares in Bagmati and 94,182 hectares in Gandaki Province.
The paddy plantation has been completed in around 94.42 per cent (260,964 hectares) of the paddy fields in Koshi Province by August 10. Paddy is cultivated in around 276,387 hectares in Koshi Province.
The paddy plantation remains the lowest in Madhes Province.
The paddy plantation has been done only in 86.35 per cent (319,626 hectares) of the total paddy cultivation area of 372,645 hectares of land by Monday.
Due to lack of sufficient rainfall and unanticipated drought in Madhes Province, paddy plantation has been affected badly this year. The paddy plantation has been lower by almost 11 percentage points in Madhes Province during the review period as compared to last year.
The paddy plantation had been done in around 97 per cent of paddy fields in Madhes Province by August 17, last year.
