NANC buys Nepali Community Center building

blog

Kathmandu, Feb.28: The Nepali Association of Northern California (NANC) has bought a Nepali Community Center building situated in the Bay Area (Northern area) of California (CA) state.

NANC, which was established in the year 1994 by Nepali living in the San Francisco Bay Area, had a goal to have its community building, and that has now been finally realized with the collective effort and support from people of the Bay Area.

According to the press release of NANC, the religious property located at 369 Chesley Ave in Richmond, CA, was kept for sale for 2, 470, 000 US dollar but with an offer, building was bought for 1, 860,000 US dollar.

The building was bought with a 45 percent down payment, 700,000 dollars collected from nearly 500 people and organizations of the Nepali community, 95,000 dollars collected by NANC in the previous campaign, and 180,000 dollars was taken as a loan from community members and the rest was a loan from a bank.

The building covers an area of approximately 10,800 square feet and a parking area of 54,000 square feet.

We believe that having our community building in the Northern region, where there are about 70 thousand Nepali people, it will be easy to organize various festivals and social and cultural programs according to religion and culture, read the press release.

We are planning to pay off the loan taken to purchase the building and we hope to have more hands joining in for the purpose.
