Lhosar greetings

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 28: President Ramchandra Paudel and Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav have extended their warm wishes to the Sherpa community and all Nepalis on the auspicious occasion of Gyalpo Lhosar, the New Year festival celebrated by the Sherpa community.

In his message, President Paudel extended his heartfelt greetings, recognising Gyalpo Lhosar as a key festival of the Mahayana Buddhist followers, especially the  Sherpa community. 

He acknowledged its role in strengthening family bonds, social harmony, and national unity.

President Paudel highlighted Nepal’s identity as a multi-ethnic, multilingual, multi-religious, and multicultural nation, stating that festivals like Gyalpo Lhosar promote social cohesion, tolerance and solidarity among all communities. 

He expressed confidence that such celebrations would contribute to reinforcing national integrity and advancing the country’s economic and social prosperity. Similarly, Vice-President Yadav expressed his best wishes for peace, prosperity, and good health to all Sherpa brothers and sisters in Nepal and abroad. 

He highlighted that Gyalpo Lhosar symbolises new hope, enthusiasm, and joy while fostering love, brotherhood, and unity in society. 

He further emphasised the importance of cultural preservation, stating that the festival strengthens national harmony and showcases Nepal’s rich cultural diversity.

Vice President Yadav also noted that, although primarily observed by the Sherpa, Tibetan, and Yolmo communities, the festival has gained wider participation due to Nepal’s diverse and inclusive society. 

He underscored the cultural significance of traditional attire, special delicacies and communal activities like Syabru dance and Tungna music, which enhance the festival’s vibrancy.
