Kathmandu, Feb 24: The 11th Annual General Meeting of Nepal-Italy Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NICCI) was held here today.
The meeting expressed its commitment to promote investment in Nepal, expand the tourism sector and strengthen trade relations between Nepal and Italy.
On the occasion, President of the NICCI Sanjay Agarwal shared the journey of political and economic relations between Nepal and Italy, while adding that it should be strengthened further. The NICCI is playing an important role to balance the trade relations between the two countries.
Bilateral trade relations were established on 31 August 1959. He recalled that Italy has been playing an important role in Nepal's economic development, and the support provided by the Italian government, especially after the establishment of democracy in 1990 and the 2015 earthquake, is historic.
General Secretary of the NICCI Manoj Shrestha Bhadel expressed his gratitude for Italy's long-term support in the reconstruction of Nepal's cultural, historical and physical heritage.
Saying that Italy's contribution to the preservation of Nepal's heritage has been significant, he expressed confidence that this cooperation would remain as an enduring symbol of friendship between the two countries.
In the general assembly, individuals and institutions contributing to Nepal-Italy economic relations were honoured.
Patron of the association Rajesh Kaji Shrestha and Honorary Consul Pratibha Pandey were given the distinguished honor while Ashanka Shumsher JBR was honoured as the 'Outstanding Member of the Year' for 2024.(RSS)
