Kathmandu, Feb 19 : The first President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, Dr Ram Baran Yadav, has said that the foundation of achieving all the rights enjoyed by the Nepali people today was the result of the revolution of 2007 BS.
Talking to RSS on the occasion of
the National Democracy Day, he called upon all Nepalis to celebrate the day in
a proud manner as Fagun 7 in Nepali calendar is important in Nepal's political
history.
"This is people's day. This
day should be taken as a milestone in achieving the rights of the people. Today
is the day when the people were liberated as a result of the fight for the
rights of the people that took place in 2007 BS," the first President of
Republic Nepal said.
Stating that the country is in the
practice of federalism, republic, inclusiveness, proportional representation
and secular democracy, he said the main foundation of achieving that was the
political change of 2007.
Former President Yadav said the
need of the hour is to protect and integrate the achievements and diversities
achieved, suggesting streamlining the people's hopes by establishing access to
political, economic, social and religious rights and justice for all. (RSS)
