By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 13: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged civil servants to provide impartial and prompt services to the public.
Inaugurating the 12th General Convention of the Nepal Civil Servants Organisation here on Wednesday, Prime Minister Oli called on civil servants to understand the concerns of service seekers and serve them swiftly with a sense of duty and a smile.
“As government employees, you all must serve everyone impartially, regardless of political affiliations. While you have the right to vote in elections and organise within the framework of the International Labour Organisation’s principles for employee rights and welfare, there is no need for agitation, as this government listens to all voices,” said Prime Minister Oli.
“You must not fail to provide timely services. Services should be more refined than they are now. No member of this organisation should be involved in corruption or irregularities. It should be such that people receive services smoothly and recognise and appreciate you as a member of the civil service.”
Prime Minister Oli stated that he was forced to leave the government in the past due to leaders from his own party but had now returned to lead the government with the people’s support, as he had proclaimed.
He recalled that, despite having fewer seats in Parliament, some parties aimed to remain in power by bargaining with major parties. This, he stated, led to the formation of a power-sharing agreement between the UML and Nepali Congress.
Emphasising that the government faced no obstacles despite political encirclement, Prime Minister Oli urged officials to work with confidence.
He reiterated that the current power-sharing arrangement would continue until the next election. As per the agreement between the two parties, he announced that he would resign in June–July 2026 to hand over the premiership to Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Prime Minister Oli dismissed opposition claims that the government would collapse soon, asserting that it would continue to advance with clarity on development, construction, and good governance.
He stressed that the civil service, as a permanent institution, must work with dedication to uphold the country’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
Prime Minister Oli further stated that if anarchic elements attempted to undermine the democratic system, it would be necessary to fight for the protection of the nation, the constitution, and democracy.
Additionally, he informed that a Bbill would be introduced in the Federal Parliament to address legal gaps related to political parties.
He clarified that the government had no intention or need to divide any political party.
