Newa Suchana Kendra awarded with Gauri Ananta Sirpa

By A Staff Reporter, Lalitpur, Feb. 10: Newa Suchana Kendra was presented with the Gauri Ananta Sirpa (Award).

 The award carrying a purse of Rs. 50,000 was handed over by Nepalbhasha activist Malla K. Sundar at a programme in Lalitpur on Saturday. 

Among the five awards presented, one was given to the Kendra in recognition of its significant contributions to promoting Nepal Bhasha literature and culture. The event also marked the re-edition of the poetry collection ‘Chakhuncha Haagu Meh’ by Satyamohan Joshi.  Raju Maharjan Juju’s new work ‘Chakhuncha Haagu Meh Haaknam Chhaka; was also launched. The books were launched by Pabitra Bajracharya, president of Newa Dey Dabu; Rajit Bahadur Shrestha, president of the Lok Sahitya Parishad; Ramita Bajracharya, president of Newa Suchana Kendra; and award donor Bipul Shrestha. Yagya Ratna Dhakhwa, former president of the Nepalbhasha Academy, and Keshar Man Tamrakar, a senior literary figure,  were honoured with honorary memberships of the Nepal Bhasha Council.

Malla K. Sundar also reminded attendees of the historical oppression faced by Nepal Bhasha during the autocratic Rana regime, and the resilience of figures like Prem Bahadur Kasaa, who founded the Council, initiated the Chwasapasa and Saphu Kuthi – a manuscript museum of Nepalbhasha, and Chittadhar Hridaya, who established Nepalbhasha Parishad.
