Namaste Hotel Palpa wins Open Folk Duet Singing Competition

By Our Correspondent,Palpa, Feb. 6: Namaste Hotel Palpa has won the Open Folk Duet Singing Competition held at the 4th Rampur Festival and Trade Fair. In the final duet competition held on Tuesday, Namaste Hotel’s team emerged as the winner by surpassing the National Folk and Duet Song Academy Palpa.

The competition, which started on January 30  aimed to preserve and promote folk duet songs.

 Dipendra Paudel and Sita Bhandari represented Namaste Hotel in the contest.

 The National Folk and Duet Song Academy Palpa secured the runner-up position, with Suman Thapa and Sima Saru participating from their team.

For third place, a tie occurred between Prithvi Television Rampur and Hotel Srinagar Rampur, as both teams scored the same points.

 The winning team received a cash prize of Rs. 51,111 along with a certificate, while the runner-up team won Rs. 31,111, and the third-place teams received Rs. 21,011 each, along with certificates.

Among the eight participating teams, Sudip Sapkota from the National Folk and Duet Song Academy Syangja was awarded the Best Male Singer title while Manisha Pokharel from Chapakot was named the Best Female Singer.

Narayan Khanal ‘Lekali,’ the central president of the National Folk Bhajan Chudka Conservation Academy, said that the competition organised with the belief that Rampur, recognised as a fertile ground for folk duet songs, would help preserve the traditional authenticity of folk duets and highlight new talents. 

Similarly, Bhojendra Prakash Dhakal, the president of the Rampur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the association has been including the folk duet competition in the festival to preserve the originality of duet songs and encourage new talents.
