Janakpur Literary Festival from today

By Laxmi Chaudhary,Janakpurdham, Feb. 6: Janakpurdham is all set to host the sixth edition of the Janakpur Literary Festival. Organised by the Nawa Mithila Foundation, the three-day festival will be held on February 6, 7, and 8.

 This year’s event will revolve around the themes of earth, culture, and special cultural occasions, featuring discussions on literature, society, economics, and politics.

The festival will include 14 panel discussions and three individual sessions, exploring not only the literary world but also the social and cultural diversity of the region.

The event will open with a speech by renowned writer C.K. Lal.  Likewise, Kul Man Ghising, Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), will share insights on “The Journey of Light,” while Indian writer Subodh Chandra will discuss "The Relation between Sita and the Exchange of Marriage."

 Additionally, Khagendra Sangraula will analyse “Political Movement  and Literature.”’

A session on “Nepal’s Foreign Policy and Political Demarcation” will feature an in-depth discussion among journalist Sudhir Sharma, writer Tulanayaran Sah and political analyst Indra Adhikari. Journalist Anil Giri will moderate this session.

Entrepreneurs Saurav Jyoti, Sulav Budhathoki, and Ashimman Singh will share their experiences in “The Journey of Nepali Entrepreneurs.” 

Meanwhile, journalist Ghanshyam Khadka and writer Sama Thapa will engage in a discussion on “The Search for Peace.”

The president of Nawa Mithila Foundation, Amit Shah, said that the debates would be held on Reading Culture, Cricket: Exploring Problems and Solutions. 

Adding a cultural touch, 60 students from 10 schools in Janakpur will perform “This Is Our Janakpur,” celebrating the city’s rich heritage.

Speaking about the event, the vice president of the Foundation, Aditya Nepal stated, “This event is not just about literature. It aims to illuminate Janakpur and the Madhesi community, fostering discussions on economy and culture. New ideas will emerge from here.”

Moreover, he decided to hand over this year’s “Amit Jha Memorial, Literary, Music Prize” to the family of Gurudev Kamat. 

 Chief Minister of Madhes, Satish Kumar Singh will inaugurate the festival, according to the Foundation.
