blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 29: Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli has said that the government has received a generally positive response to the various ordinances introduced and is making efforts to steer the country from backwardness to a higher level of development.

Addressing the parliamentary party meeting of the UML on Tuesday, just ahead of the federal parliament’s winter session starting on January 31, Prime Minister Oli explained that the ordinances were brought to create an environment for youth to work within the country, improve the quality of public service, and facilitate a smooth environment for businesses and industries.

He explained that 29 laws had been amended through various ordinances and that the government would soon replace them with permanent laws through new bills to ensure effective implementation. These ordinances were issued after the Cabinet meeting of the Nepal government recommended them to the President on January 10.

As the leader of the parliamentary party, Prime Minister Oli urged MPs to present facts and opinions in a composed and responsible manner in the parliament. He also asked them to respond constructively and strongly whenever wrong accusations and confusion are spread.

He further emphasized that the government should present itself with clarity on issues of national unity, interests, sovereignty, and independence, while maintaining strong policies and a practical approach towards good governance.

Prime Minister Oli stated that Nepal would strengthen its relations with both neighboring countries in a balanced, friendly, and mutually beneficial way, making sure to gain from the development of its neighbours. He mentioned that Nepal would give special priority to neighborly relations and make its international relations visible and audible.

“There are attempts to create a wrong narrative that nothing has been achieved. We are working on areas like education, health, and agriculture,” Prime Minister Oli said.

Prime Minister Oli stated, “The current coalition government will continue until the next election. There is no meaning in spreading propaganda claiming that the government will collapse at any time.”

Prime Minister Oli, while mentioning the inclusion of Nepal’s new political map during the constitutional amendment, recalled that efforts were made to strengthen national unity and expand the scope of acceptance. Even parties that disagreed with the constitution were engaged in dialogue and brought into mainstream politics, he added.

Prime Minister Oli said, “Currently, all political forces are fundamentally in mainstream politics. National politics is advancing on a democratic mainstream track.”

He also mentioned that they stand for humanitarianism and world peace, and are aware of the impacts of climate change. He informed that the government is planning to organise the Sagarmatha Saambad (Everest Dialogue) soon, focusing on environmental security.

In the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung shed light on the necessity of the ordinances and amendments to existing laws introduced by the government.
