Six categories, 11,500+ players in 2nd Esports National C'ship

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 27: The second edition of the Esports National Championship which kicks off today (January 27) in Kathmandu will see over 11,500 players participating across six categories. The second edition will see participants competing over PUBG Mobile, eFootball, Mobile Legends, Dota 2, Valorant and Cosplay.

Organised by the Esports Association of Nepal (ESAN) and managed by Nepal Plays, the championship’s qualifier stage will take place from January 27 to 31.

Similarly, the group games and playoffs have been scheduled for February 2 to 14. The qualifier and playoffs will be organised digitally while the final events (LAN event) will be organised with players’ physical presence at Dasharath Rangasala from February 20 to 22.

According to the organisers, 2,519 individuals have registered for eFootball while there are 1,039 teams in PUBG Mobile. “There are 2,081 teams in Mobile Legends, 66 teams in Valorant and 58 teams in Dota 2,” informed Ujjen Lal Shrestha, Managing Director at Nepal Plays.

“The registration for the Cosplay event is still open. We have over 4,000+ teams and 11,500+ players already registered in whole,” said Shrestha.

There will be 16 teams in PUBG Mobile’s final round while two teams in Mobile Legends. eFootball will see 32 players in the final while four teams each will be in the final of Dota 2 and Valorant. Cosplay’s participants will be given a ‘fashion show-model’ event to show their cosplays. The organisers have allocated Rs. 2.5 million for prizes to the winners and runners-up of the six categories.

The winning team of PUBG Mobile will get Rs. 250,000 while Mobile Legends’ winning team will get Rs. 182,000. The winning team of Valorant and Dota 2 will get Rs. Rs. 105,000 each, the eFootball-winning player will get R. 90,000 and the cosplay winner will get Rs, 70,000.
