Kathmandu, Jan 20: Dolma Maya Gole, Vice Chair of Mahankal Rural Municipality in Lalitpur, has been honored with the "International Women's Leadership Award". The International Awards Forum (TIAF) USA awarded her. The award was presented at a special ceremony held in New Delhi, India, on January 19, the Mahankal Rural Municipality confirmed.
The award recognizes Gole's
significant contributions in policy planning, programme development, budget
formulation, and the conservation of agriculture, ecosystems, religion, and
culture. Her efforts have particularly focused on addressing issues related to
women, children, and senior citizens, according to the local government.
She was also acknowledged for her
active role in the search, rescue, and relief operations following the
disasters caused by unexpected rains on September 27-28 last year, which
resulted in the loss of 13 lives and left one person missing in the rural
municipality. Additionally, 300 families were displaced due to the disaster.
TIAF USA presents various awards in
different categories to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to
