Nawalpur, Jan. 14: Loan shark victims in Nawalpur district have encircled the district court, protesting against the alleged one-sided action taken by the court.

The demonstration was organised by the Farmers and Labourers Struggle Committee to demand justice for those exploited by high-interest loans.

The victims marched with slogans from Nawadurga Chowk in Kawasoti-3, passing through Thakali Chowk, and finally reaching the court premises on Sunday.

The protesters also submitted a memorandum to the court's registrar, Gambhir Ghimire.

According to the district chairperson of the struggle committee, Hemraj Dahal, the memorandum highlighted their grievances. After receiving the document, Ghimire assured them that the court remains committed to impartial justice and will not act outside the bounds of the rule of law.

Addressing a corner meeting in front of the court gate, the central spokesperson of the struggle committee, Nirgha Nabin, criticised flaws in the judicial system and called for fair judgments.

The loan shark victims demanded a review of past decisions, claiming they had not received fair treatment from the court. They called for the judiciary to rectify its practices and deliver impartial justice.

District Chairperson Dahal said that the victims had been suffering for a long time and had come to the court in desperation, hoping for justice. Despite prolonged protests in the district, the victims have yet to see any resolution.
