Kathmandu, Jan 2: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari has said that he was expecting Israel's continued supports to Nepal's agriculture sector in the future.
During a meeting with Israel's Ambassador to Nepal Shmulik Bass at the Ministry on Thursday, Minister Adhikari urged the Israeli Ambassador to take initiatives to renew the bilateral cooperation in the areas of agriculture.
He urged the Israeli envoy to revive the 'Earn and Learn' programme adding that it created opportunities to Nepali youths.
Likewise, he asked the Israeli Ambassador to take initiatives for the establishment of Centre for Excellence for Nepal's agriculture development since the areas for this partnership have already been selected.
On the occasion, Minister Adhikari said that some 5,000 Nepalis are currently working in Israel and have improved their livelihood after being employed.
Likewise, the Israeli Ambassador said Israel was willing to cooperate with Nepal through technology transfer in agriculture sector.
He also pledged to take initiatives for the establishment of centre for excellence for agriculture development in the areas selected by Nepal.
The Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu has stated that there was possibility of taking Nepali workers to Israel and said that he was committed to implementing the past agreements signed by the two countries.(RSS)
