Bhojpur, Jan 1: Local agricultural produces in various parts of Bhojpur district have got a greater access to markets after roads were expanded and upgraded in rural areas in the district.
The 42-km road from Deuralichowk in
district headquarters to Chakhewa Bhanjyang has been blacktopped. This road
leads to Kathmandu via Khotang district. After local products found markets
beyond their locality, the local farmers are becoming economically
capable.
Locally grown fruits and vegetables
that were previously only sold in local market are traded in Kathmandu and
other cities such as Dharan and Biratnagar as well these days, thanks to the
road access. The upgraded infrastructure has enabled the farmers to sell their
produces beyond their local markets.
Traders come to farmland contacting
the farmer directly and buy produces such as rice and maize, shared Santosh
Bista, farmer of Temkemaiyung-5 in the district.
The recent construction of a
concrete bridge over the Arun River that connects Bhojpur and Dhankuta with
other districts in the eastern side of the country has not only facilitated
easier movement to local residents but also supported the marketing of local
products.
Furthermore, the blacktopping of
66-km Bhojpur-Leguwa road section connecting Bhojpur with Dharan city has
fostered the local trade, locals added. (RSS)
