Woman injured after being attacked by elephant

By Rammani Dahal, Hetauda, Jan.1: A woman has sustained injuries after being attacked by a rhinoceros at Manahari Rural Municipality of Makwanpur district.

According to the District Police Office, Makwanapur, Dilmaya Syangtan sustained injuries after being attacked by a rhinoceros in the Lamedamar Madhyabarti Community Forest located near Lothar Khola at Manhari rural municipality-6 at 8:30 AM on Wednesday.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, Makawanpur, Shyamu Aryal, a 70-year-old Syangtan of Dubichaur of Rapti Municipality 1 of Chitwan District was attacked by a rhinoceros when she went to fetch fodder grass and dung in the forest.

The local people near the incident area made noise after facing commotion leading the rhino to escape to the forest when the septuagenarian was being attacked. 

Police said that Syangtan suffered injuries on her hand, body, and forehead and was sent to Chitwan for treatment.
