By Chhabi Lal Pandey,Butwal, Dec. 31:The local youth from Rupandehi district, who are in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as migrant workers, have been contributing some amount of their income to social services in their home villages.

Youth hailing from Sainamaina Municipality in the district has formed an organisation-- Sainamaina Service Society-- to work for their society.

The Society has established a fixed deposit fund to support the education of underprivileged children studying in community schools. Scholarships are distributed to these students from the fund.

A fixed deposit of Rs. 100,000 each has been set up in three schools of Sainamaina--Dudhraksha, Parroha and Saljhandi.

Bishnu Panthi, President of the Society, said that they had been supporting disabled students and sick individuals for the past 10 years. Their goal is to invest the money earned abroad to help the poor people in their village.

Sushma Sunar, the Women's Secretary of the Society, shared that despite living abroad, she had been providing all possible help to the poor and needy people in Sainamaina. She assured that the support would continue in the future.

The society has also distributed wheelchairs to disabled individuals and is planning to establish a fund to support poor, meritorious students in local schools.

They provided a wheelchair to 56-year-old Lautan Tharu from Tali Barauli, Ward No. 11. Lautan Tharu, who suffered from high blood pressure 10 years ago, has been unable to move his body due to paralysis. His son, Man Bahadur Tharu, mentioned that they had been struggling to afford medications for his father’s treatment. With the help of social organisations, they have been able to manage to buy medicines.

The wheelchair provided by the Society has brought some comfort and happiness to Lautan family, said Man Bahadur, who maintains his livelihood working as a wage earner.
