Kathmandu, Dec 31: A new working committee has been elected at the Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation). The Federation's 15th General Assembly which kicked
off on December 28 elected the new board with Sunaina Ghimire Pandey as its President. With this, the CAN Federation has got a woman at its helm for the first time. Pandey is also the Managing Director of the software development company General Technology.
Similarly, Harka Bahadur Shetty,
Chiranjivi Adhikari, Nabin Joshi, Shekharnath Dulal, Subhash Khadka and Sirjana
Shrestha have been elected the Vice President while Chandra Bilas Bhurtel and
Bikram Singh have been elected as the General Secretary and Treasurer,
respectively.
Likewise, Sarita Neupane, Agma
Malakar, Deepak Saha, Sarina Shrestha, Maniraj Pandey, Ram Kishor Rawal and
Karnaraj Paneru have been elected the Secretary.
The elected Executive Members include Umesh Raghubanshi, Dhruba Raj Sharma, Keshav Prasad Bhattarai, Narayan Prasad Shrestha, Thakur Kumar Shrestha, Hempal Shrestha, Shila Kansakar Karki, Deependra Paudel, Raju Kattel, Chintamani Bastola.
Bhanu Bhakta Sharma has been
elected the Coordinator while Santosh Dhungana and Pooja Agrawal as the members
of the Account Committee.
The newly-elected President Pandey
thanked all for unanimously electing her to lead the organization, stressing on
collective efforts for addressing problems seen in the information technology
sector.
She said there is need for policy reforms for developing Nepal into an ICT hub and international destination. She added that she would make special initiative for this purpose.
CAN Federation is an umbrella
organization with membership base ranging from ICT Institutions, Associations
to Individuals working in this sector, and it works along with the lines of an
autonomous, non-political, nonpartisan, non profitable and service oriented
sector of ICT.
CAN Federation was established in
January 2015 with the involvement of professionals, specialists, institutions
and related organizations from the Information Communication Technology sector
