Fire destroys seven houses in Rautahat

By Yadavraj Puri, Rautahat,  Dec.30: A fire broke out in the Dalit settlement in Rajdevi Municipality-5 of Rautahat in the early hours of Sunday, causing significant destruction to multiple houses and resulting in damages worth over Rs 1 million. 

The fire that broke out in the house of local Jagarnath Paswan engulfed seven other houses of the Dalit settlement in Patahi village of the municipality.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dipak Kumar Rai from the District Police Office in Rautahat said that the houses of local Ramnath Paswan, Balulal Paswan, Ramishwor Paswan, Nagendra Paswan, Dipendra Paswan, Vijay Paswan and Ramsworgiya Paswan got engulfed in fire.

According to him, property worth one million rupees, including clothes, jewelry, and food has been destroyed in the fire. 

Preliminary investigation is that the fire may have started due to a power cut in the house of local Jagarnath.

Munna Yadav, District President of the National Youth Association of Nepal said that upon receiving news of the fire, assistance was provided by the Brahmpuri Police Post, Armed Police's BOP Belbichwa, and a fire engine from Gaur Municipality. Together with locals, they were able to bring the blaze under control.

According to him, the Dalit family was devastated by the fire in winter. Their daily life has become difficult due to a lack of food, shelter, and clothing.
