Kathmandu, Dec.30: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday extended best wishes on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar, the main festival and beginning of the New Year of the Tamu (Gurung) community.
In the message, PM Oli wished for the health, happiness, peace, prosperity, and continued progress of all Nepalis in the country and abroad with the belief that the festival would foster cordiality, religious tolerance, and respect among all the citizens, thereby promoting national unity.
The PM said, "Our country is rich in culture. I wish you all on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar. When I think of Tamu Lhosar, I remember Gurung men and women dancing in the traditional Gurung attire."
It is said that this festival is also important because the night of the 15th of Poush (December 30) is the longest and nights gradually start to shorten from the day afterward. (Translated from RSS)
