Basbariya's ward chair Mahato passes away

By Janarjan Khatri, Sarlahi,  Dec.26: Ward chair of the Bhawanipur, Basbariya Rural Municipality-3, Sarlahi, Nandalal Mahato has passed away.

69-year-old Mahato, who was suffering from liver cancer, died on Wednesday night in the course of treatment at Bharatpur of Chitwan.

Mahato from the Nepali Congress was elected ward chair twice consecutively in the 2072 (2015) B.S and 2079 (2022) elections. He was the then Bhawanipur Village Development Committee (Village) chairman in 2054.

Nepali Congress leader Gajendra Sah said that the body of the deceased Mahato has been brought home from Bharatpur on Thursday morning and preparations are underway for the last rites.

Basbariya Rural Municipality has announced a Thursday day of mourning within the rural municipality to mourn Mahato's demise.
