Potholes-ridden road of district headquarter Tamghas

By Tilachan Pandey, Tamghas, Dec.24: The risk of accidents rises alarmingly because of the fatal potholes in the streets of the district headquarters of Gulmi, Tamghas.  

It has been found that Resunga Municipality and concerned agencies have remained indolent regarding the repair of potholes in the middle of the road for a long time.

Head of Accounts of Nepal Electricity Authority Gulmi, Bishnu Neupane complained of big potholes on the road leading to the electricity, survey, and land revenue office, which increases the risk of road accidents in the area. 

He said that it gets difficult to drive and save pedestrians on the way to the office in the area. 

He said that the risk of accidents is high as the vehicles and pedestrians must also be saved from the numerous potholes.

Locals have expressed dissatisfaction over the numerous potholes that are there consistently and nothing has been done about it. 

Local Suresh Marasini said that since the municipality has not shown any interest in repairing the road for years, they have become unseen.

He said that there are potholes on the road from the electricity chowk to the electricity office, so it will be difficult to drive a motorcycle thereby increasing the chances of of accidents.

Locals also complained about waterlogging in potholes entering their residence premises in the process of commute and even children falling in ditches. 

Resunga Municipality ward chair-9 of Krishna Prasad Pandey said that the process for repairing and paving the road has been made.

He claimed that the ward office is working to solve the problem by closely monitoring the road section. 

Mayor of Resunga Municipality Khil Dhwaj Panthi said that the tender has been issued to widen the road, manage the drains, and blacktop it. 

Panthi said that the municipality is working to solve the issue of potholes permanently although small work has been done time and again. 

He claimed that the road will be widened and paved alongside fixing drains within the current fiscal year.
