Kavrepalanchowk, Dec 23: Shreedas Lama, Chairperson of the Roshi Rural Municipality, Ward No 1, Kavrepalanchowk, has passed away.
He died in the course of treatment at Bir Hospital in Kathmandu on Sunday. Lama, 69, had been suffering from cancer for the last one-and-a-half years.
He was elected the Ward Chair of the same local level on the CPN (UML) ticket in the local election held in 2017.
Roshi Rural Municipality has given a public holiday today to mourn Lama's demise.
The CPN (UML) Kavrepalanchowk has issued a condolence statement on the death of its District Secretariat member. It said it has lost an adept, spirited and popular local people's leader in his demise.
Lama's last rites would be performed at Swoyambhu in Kathmandu as per the Lama cultural traditions, according to the family sources. (RSS)
