Indian national arrested for defrauding Rs 20 million

By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Dec.23: The District Police Office Banke has arrested an Indian citizen for misappropriation of Rs 20 million by claiming to extract gold from underground.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police Aayush Prasad Joshi, police arrested 42-year-old Sadabuddin Halwai from Singhapuri Village/hamlet in Pachpedwa block located at Balrampur District of Uttar Pradesh, India, who repeatedly cheated Nasir Ahmed Behna of Nepalganj- 19, giving false hope of extracting gold from underground claiming of having it plenty underground.

According to him, the Indian national was arrested based on a complaint that the local Nasir Ahmad Behna was repeatedly cheated Rs 20 million giving false hope of extracting gold from the land near Mohanpur brick kilns of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-19.

DSP Joshi, spokesperson of the District Police Office Banke, said that the Indian national Halwai was arrested near the bus park located in Nepalgunj-4. 

1, 049 gold plated coins, 3 earthen pots, three metal pots, a metal chain, one idol of Ganesh, more than 600 stones of different sizes,  boxes, a book written in Urdu, a car of UP registration number  UP 32 PP 6110, cheque and vouchers of both Nepali and Indian banks have been recovered from the defendant. 

According to him, the investigation is underway by extending the deadline to four days.

District Police Office Banke has urged all locals of the district to be vigilant saying that there is a possibility of defrauding by people calming to extract a pot full of gold being buried under the ground.
