Pradeep and Surakshya, goodwill ambassadors of KIFF

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 9: Actor Pradeep Khadka and actress Surakshya Panta have been appointed goodwill ambassadors for the second edition of the Karnali International Film Festival (KIFF). 

The festival is set to begin on March 8, next year.

The festival aims to promote the Nepali film industry and contribute to the tourism development of the Karnali Province.

 Organised by Red Cherry Media, the festival aspires to choose the slogan ‘Visit Karnali Explore Karnali’, showcasing the natural beauty, cultural diversity, and tourism potential of Karnali to the global audience.

According to festival director Chakra Bahadur Chand, the festival has an ambitious plan to highlight Karnali’s historical and cultural significance on both national and international platforms. 

This year, the festival has announced a special focus on climate change issues by hosting the ‘Rara Film Tourism and Climate Change Summit’. The festival’s diverse activities include film screenings, workshops, interactions, and an award ceremony.

Actor Khadka expressed his belief that the festival would establish cinema as a powerful medium for promoting tourism. 

Actress Panta shared her connection with Karnali through her film Bulaki.

 She said that the festival would help bring Karnali's stories to the forefront. 

The second edition of the festival will be officially inaugurated in Surkhet, the capital of Karnali Province, on March 8 next year. 

A ‘Karnali International Film Tourism and Climate Award Ceremony’ will be held on April 8 at the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu. Furthermore, a ‘Rara Film Tourism and Climate Summit’ will take place on April 12 at the Rara Lake premises in Mugu.
