By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 8: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi, interacted with Madhesi intellectuals and workers living in the UAE at an interaction programme organised at the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
The UAE chapter of Madheshi Ekta Samaj had organised the programme.
The programme, which was attended by Madhesi businessmen, workers and intellectuals who have become successful after working in various fields in the UAE, was moderated by Dr. Rabindra Kumar Yadav, International Coordinator of Madhesi Ekta Samaj.
The main objective of the programme was to discuss the problems faced by Madheshi migrant workers in the UAE and other Gulf countries.
On the occasion, intellectuals and professionals urged the Nepal government through the minister to go to villages and hold public awareness programmes and take action against brokers and manpower companies who directly deceive the common people and extort huge sums of money in the name of foreign employment.
Minister Sah said that he was moved by the problems of the migrant workers and he would raise the issue in the Cabinet meeting. The programme was attended by Dr. Rabindra Kumar Yadav, International Committee Coordinator of Madhesi Ekta Samaj, the Samaj’s UAE President Dharmendra Gohiwar Yadav, General Secretary Roshan Dev, Uttam Mishra and others.
Joint Secretary of the Ministry's 'Women Empowerment Division' Abha Shrestha Karna and officials of the Nepali Embassy were also present at the programme.
According to the cheated migrant labourers, brokers take huge sums of money from them promising to provide them lucrative jobs. They further said, they were not provided the job they were promised in Nepal.
