Kavrepalanchowk, Dec 6: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said the government would bring a policy related to Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Addressing the inaugural session of 'IT Meet-2024' organized by the Kathmandu University Computer Club at Dhulikhel today, Minister Gurung clarified that laws would be formulated holding discussion after bringing AI policy.
"Further programmes can be introduced through information technology after formulating laws. The Ministry has been doing homework for the same," he mentioned.
Also the Spokesperson of the government, Gurung shared, "This is the era of IT. We will implement AI-related laws even for the Digital Nepal Framework.
Stating that corruption could be controlled if e-governance is brought into force, he stressed, "E-governance can be implemented through Digital Nepal Framework and corruption can be controlled only after its introduction."
The Communications Minister expressed the view that plans, programmes and budgets of all three-tier governments could be managed through e-governance, adding corruption could be controlled if the e-governance programme is implemented in seven provinces, 753 local levels, 22 ministries and 761 governments, government offices across the country and necessary policies and laws should be formulated for this.
Similarly, the Dean of the School of Engineering of KU, Manish Pokharel said it is expected that the IT Meet-2024 would be a platform to promote innovation and creativity imparting new opportunities and inspiration by uniting youths of the IT field.
Various activities like coding competitions, project demonstrations, gaming events, and goggling competitions would be organized in the two-day meeting. (RSS)
