By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov 29: Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba held a bilateral meeting with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Chengdu, Sichuan province, China today.
Foreign Minister Dr Rana is on an official visit to China on the invitation of her Chinese counterpart Wang and as part of preparations for the upcoming visit of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to the People’s Republic of China.
According to the private secretariat of Foreign Minister Dr Rana, different aspects of Nepal-China relations, issues of mutual interests and common concerns were discussed during the bilateral meeting, in addition to issues pertaining to upcoming China visit of PM Oli and exchange of cooperation in course of the PM’s visit.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Dr. Rana extended an invitation to her Chinese counterpart Wang to visit Nepal.
On the occasion, Foreign Minister Dr Rana extended congratulations through Chinese Foreign Minister Wang to the government of the People's Republic of China and the Chinese people on the 75th establishment day of the PRC and expressed happiness that Nepal and China are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two neighbours next year.
She also expressed thanks to the Chinese government for announcing free visa to Nepalis aspiring to visit China while stating that remarkable achievements were made in relation to Nepal-China ties and that the relationship has been growing stronger.
The two ministers also dedicated time to discuss potential bilateral agreements and projects, as well as other areas of cooperation likely to be observed during the Prime Minister's visit to China. It was believed that this visit would further strengthen Nepal-China relations.
The discussions centered around the long-standing relationship between the two countries, with particular focus on Chinese assistance to various sectors in Nepal, including economic and social development. They also explored new areas for future collaboration, with an emphasis on prioritizing economic development.
Nepal's Ambassador to China, Dr Krishna Prasad Oli, Nepal's Consul General in Chengdu, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present at the meeting.
Minister Wang hosted the dinner in honor of Minister Dr Rana and her delegation this evening. During the event, Minister Dr Rana thanked the Chinese government and people for their warm hospitality and extended her appreciation for the invitation to the Prime Minister for his visit.
Foreign Minister Dr Rana who reached Chengdu on Thursday (yesterday) is scheduled to return to Nepal on Saturday (tomorrow).
