Hearing on writ petition filed by Durga Prasai underway

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov.27: The hearing on the habeas corpus writ petition that the medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai filed is underway. 

According to the Supreme Court, a joint bench of Justice Mahesh Sharma Poudel and Nityananda Pandeya has continued hearing the writ petition filed by Prasai on Wednesday. 

Claiming unlawful detention, he filed the petition through his legal representative at the Supreme Court on Friday.

He was arrested for involvement in cyber-crime-related offences because of alleging Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for investing in Telecom in Cambodia. 

Prasai's son, Nirajan Prasai, filed the writ petition on Friday against the Ministry of Home Affairs, Police Headquarters in Naxal, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) in Lazimpat, and the Kathmandu District Court.  

The CIB team had arrested Prasai from his residence in Bhaktapur on November 19. He is currently in police custody.
