By Kedar Timalsina, Banepa, Kavre, Nov 26: Communication and Information Technology Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that the government pushed discussion on Bills including the Media Council with an aim to pass them in the winter session.

Addressing the first anniversary of Madani.com at Kavrepalanchowk on Tuesday Minister Gurung said that the Media Council and Social Media Use, operation and Monitoring bills, and Cyber Security Crime related Act are going to be brought to make Media Monitoring effective.

Minister Gurung said that although the regulation of the media is being done by the Press Council, it is insufficient, so the Media Council Bill will be brought to develop the Media Council as an autonomous organization.

He said that since the Media Council Bill is under discussion in the parliamentary committee, preparations are being made to pass it in the coming winter session.
