'One Local Government, One Post Office' implemented in Banke

Nepalgunj, Nov. 12: The government policy of 'One Local Government, One Post Office' has been successfully implemented in Banke by establishing a post office at each of the eight local levels of the district.

In the course of opening a post office at each local level, four offices were inaugurated in four local levels on Sunday. 

According to Govinda Prasad Pande, Chief of the District Post Office Banke, post offices were set up at Kamdi of Duduwa Rural Municipality, Narainapur of Narainapur Rural Municipality, Bankatuwa of Baijanath Rural Municipality and Agaiya of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality on Sunday.  

He further said that the post offices have already been established at Manpur of Janaki Rural Municipality and Khajura of Khajura Rural Municipality while the Area Post Office is in Kohalpur and the District Post Office is in Nepalgunj. Kohalpur is the only municipality of Banke and Nepalgunj is a sub-metropolitan city in the district.

He said the post offices, which were functioning under the District Post Office and Area Post Office in the past, would now function at the concerned local level. Banke district had 11 Area Post Offices and 35 Additional Post Offices. 

The District Post Office of Banke has been managing postal services and stationeries for Bardiya of Lumbini and all districts of Karnali Provinces. He further said the renewal of radios and services of the Department of Information are also provided by the District Post Office in the districts. 

“We are also providing other services like renewing the FM radios and cables and their monitoring, payment of the social welfare ads published by local newspapers and renewal of the press pass from this office,” said Pande. 

Employees working at the post offices said that many people still trust the post offices even in the present age of information technology. 

Meanwhile RSS adds: The concept of 'One Local Government, One Post Office' has been implemented in Kaski by restructuring the postal service of the government.          

Annapurna Rural Municipality set up a post office on Sunday. The Postal Office has been established at the building of Annapurna Rural Municipality under the Postal Directorate, Pokhara.          

Narayan Prasad Acharya, postal director at the Postal Directorate, Pokhara, said that the office has been brought into operation as per the government's policy of establishing a post office at every local level. 

He further said the service has been initiated as per the federal system of governance by integrating information technology with the post office.        

Tulsi Acharya, Section Officer of the Directorate, said that the establishment of the office would help in facilitating the postal service and the government policy would be implemented.       

Remaining Machhapuchchhre, Rupa and Madi rural municipalities of the district are also planning to bring into operation the service soon, he said.
