Damak, Nov. 8: Due to a delay in the construction of a concrete bridge over the Kankai River along the Postal Highway, a bamboo bridge has been constructed to ease the movements of locals.

The bamboo bridge has been built near the motorable bridge construction site. The bridge is located between Ward No. 1 of Gauriganj Rural Municipality and Ward No. 2 of Jhapa Rural Municipality.

According to Kartik Lal Rajbanshi, the Chairperson of Gauriganj Rural Municipality Ward No. 1, the delay in constructing the concrete bridge had made it extremely difficult for locals to travel.

Although large vehicles are unable to use the bamboo bridge, auto-rickshaws, city safaris, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians can pass without difficulty, said Rajbanshi.

The bridge has been a big help for the residents of Jhapa and Haldibari rural municipalities with Bhadrapur Municipality. The bridge has also eased the travel to the Indian town of Galgaliya.
