By A Staff Reporter.Kathmandu, July 10: Writer and filmmaker Raj Sargam’s short film “Colour of Tea” won Excellence Award at the Korea Gyeonggi International Film Festival for SDGs.

According to an announcement made on the festival’s official Facebook page, the ‘Korea Gyeonggi International Film Festival’ awarded the short film “Colour of Tea”, written and directed by Raj Sargam, the top prize for Sustainable Development Goals 2025.

The Heart Section of the Sustainable Development Goals 2025 awarded its top honour to “Colour of Tea”, stating that it was recognised “for its minimal storytelling and deep emotional resonance.” The jury praised its ability to visually portray the quiet struggles of marginalised communities and to depict structural injustice through a simple yet powerful metaphor.

“Colour of Tea” tells the story of Dalit and Indigenous people from Madhes who face the subtle aggressions and silent violence that perpetuate caste-based discrimination.

Earlier, the film was also officially selected at the ‘MOD Fest – Minority Open Day 2025’ held in Podgorica, Montenegro, Europe.
