Kathmandu, Nov. 5: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday convicted Gandaki Province Assembly Member Rajib Gurung, also known as Dipak Manange, on the charge of a murder attempt.
A division bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Tek Prasad Dhungana handed down the verdict against Gandaki Province Assembly Member Manange by upholding the verdict of then Patan Appellate Court.
Elected from Manang district in the province assembly, Manange is also the former province minister.
The then Patan Appellate Court had sentenced Manange to five years in jail. The SC upheld the same verdict of the Appellate Court.
A group of gangsters led by Manange had chopped off the hand of another gangster Chakre Milan two decades ago.
