Diversion built in Hewa stream, vehicular mobility resumes

By Radha Luitel, Phidim, Oct 9: Vehicular mobility across Hewa stream in Mechi Highway has resumed from this morning as the diversion has been made.

The floods in the stream on September 28 had swept away the belly bridge over it causing disruption in vehicular movement.

Road Division office, Ilam, constructed the diversion after the belly bridge built just a year ago was washed away by the floods.

Hewa stream also stands as border of Phidim Municipality-4 and Hilihang Rural Municipality-7 of Panchthar district.

With the washing away of the bridge, transportation of foodstuff and other materials was halted at this time of the great festival Dashain and a shortage of daily essentials was also felt in the area.

Pavan Bhattarai, chief of the road division, said that the bridge was to be complete four days ago but the delay was caused due to the delay in supply of the RCC Hume Pipes.
