Kathmandu, Dec 21: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, emphasizing the transformative power of meditation for world peace, called for adopting yoga and meditation as a way of life for ensuring world peace in a world terrorized by war and unrest.
PM Oli said so while addressing a programme organized by the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Tuindekhel in Kathmandu marking the 1st World Meditation Day today.
He urged people to integrate yoga and meditation and exercise positive thinking for world peace, citing the saying 'An eye to an eye leads the world blind."
Pointing out the need to practice meditation regularly for holistic health, the Head of the Government viewed that such kind of ancient wisdom should be transferred to the new generation and extend such knowledge to every school.
Dubbing meditation as the 'source of civilization', the Prime Minister highlighted the need to give continuity to yoga and meditation to materialize the government's determination to make Nepal a healthy nation.
"We should eat right to live a healthy life. We should aspire to remain as healthy as possible so that we do not have to go to the hospital. We all should work towards building a healthy and peaceful world," PM Oli stressed.
He said that he has taken cognizance of the initiatives and works to be undertaken by the incumbent government to promote yoga and meditation. "
On the occasion, spiritual leaders Swami Anand Arun, Santosh Kedia and LP Bhanu Sharma conducted meditation exercises along with the participants.
It may be noted that the United Nations General Assembly on December 6 this year proclaimed December 21 as the World Meditation Day to raise awareness about meditation and its benefits. The Day falls on Winter Solstice commonly known as the shortest day of the year. (RSS)
