Prem Prakash's poetry anthology launched

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 9: Prem Prakash’s poetry collection Ragatko Tarpan was officially launched amid a grand presence of literary figures on Monday in the capital. 

Chancellor of Nepal Academy, Bhupal Rai, cultural activist Bhim Kumakhi, poets Keshav Silwal and Bimala Tumkhewa jointly made the book public. 

Chancellor Rai lauded Prem Prakash as a bold and impactful poet from Rolpa. “Prem Prakash has created a complete collection of poetry by combining the skeleton of ideas with the muscles of art,” he said. 

Poet Silwal pointed out the nuanced analysis of Nepali society's internal conflicts in Prem Prakash’s work. “He writes for the common people who have dedicated their lives to the cause of change,” Silwal noted.

Similarly, president of Jana Sanskritik Mahasangh Kumakhi praised his poems for raising a voice against every form of injustice and calling for the building of a prosperous society through critical awareness.  “As a progressive poet, he has continually advocated for change, contributing significantly to leading the nation towards progress,” Kumakhi added. 

Moreover, poet Tumkhewa highlighted the remarkable balance between art and ideas in Prem Prakash’s poetry. “Among contemporary poets, he has successfully established a distinct identity for himself,” she asserted. 

Organised by Rolpa-Kathmandu Art and Literature Society, the function also featured poetry recitations from Ragatko Tarpan by Asmita KC, Alisha Eklas, Geelu Ratos, Chham Gurung, Nabin Sharma, Nusha Lingden and Prajwal Adhikari. 

Divided into three sections such as Mato Mathi Kehi Adhikar, Jibansanga Jahile Pani, and Bhavharuko Bhavya Bhagnaawasesh, the book contains 42 poems.  Aago Lina Gaekaaharu, Ulto Yatra, Ragatko Tarpan, Bichar Jaruri Chha, and Andolanma Aksharharu are noted poems by the poet. 

The book is published by BN Pustak Sansar. A poet from Rolpa, he has already published half a dozen books of poetry, ghazals, and travelogues, as well as music albums.
