By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 5: A book entitled ‘Maya Pani Bitulo’ written by author and journalist Sushil Darnal has been launched.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire released the book at a programme organised in Kathmandu on Friday.

In ‘Maya Pani Bitulo’, Darnal explores the origins and history of the Dalit community, highlighting their ancestral occupations and the caste-based discrimination and untouchability they experience. In his book, he writes about the economic and political challenges faced by the Dalit community, along with issues related to inter-caste marriages and love affairs, emphasising the obstacles these relationships face due to caste-based discrimination.

The book also offers insights into the Gandharva community’s situation within the Dalit community, the status of the Caste Discrimination and Untouchability (Crime and Punishment) Act, 2068, and its enforcement.

It also delves into the reservation policies for the Dalit community and shares stories of unsuccessful love caused by caste and ethnicity, alongside the challenges faced by Dalit women in SAARC countries.

Additionally, ‘Maya Pani Bitulo’ includes stories of women petitioners and their struggles, shedding light on the achievements of Dalit women in Nepal, their representation in Parliament and their status in civil service.

It discusses inclusive policies for Dalits, the abolition of caste-based discrimination and the impact of youth conferences advocating for the rights of the Dalit community and its impact, as well as interactions with Dalit MPs.

This marks Darnal’s second book, following his previous research work titled ‘Representation and Themes of the Dalit Community in National News Agency (RSS).’
