Khwapa College holds discourse on 'Lahana Ra Teer'

By A Staff Reporter,Bhaktapur, Sept. 28: A discourse on the poetry book Lahana Ra Teer by Avaya Shrestha was held at Khwapa Engineering College, Bhaktapur, on Thursday.

Teachers, staff and students of Khwapa Engineering College (KhEC) and Khwapa College of Engineering (KhCE) held discourse on the book in the programme organised in association with Khwapa Engineering College Literature Circle and Khwapa Engineering College Music Circle. Khwapa Engineering College is affiliated with Purbanchal University while Khwapa College of Engineering is associated with Tribhuvan University. Both are run by Bhaktapur Municipality.

Sunil Duwal, Principal of Khwapa College of Engineering, hailed the poems containing the book for their lucid, symbolic and easily understandable language.

 "Literature should be aesthetically rich, simultaneously it should be easy to understand," Duwal said, " We can take poems of the book as an example of this notion." Professor Raju Miya presented a brief criticism, quoting some of the powerful lines of the poems containing the book. Jayadev Tripathi, student, said that poems containing Lahana Ra Teer inspired him to write poems. He had written his comment in the poetic frame.

Professors Sidhiram Suwal and Phanindra Prasad Bhandari also expressed views on the book.

Poet Avaya Shrestha put up his writing background, answering the questions raised by the participants.

At the function, Principal of KhEC Sujan Maka presented token of appreciation to the speakers and the guests while Niharika Sah recited her poem.

Published by Bookhill Publications, Kathmandu, last year, the book consists of 49 poems of different flavours. The book was awarded with the Best Phedol Book Honour 2081 BS.
