Foreign Minister Rana holds bilateral meetings

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept.25: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba held bilateral meetings with foreign ministers from various countries in New York on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). 

On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Dr Rana held a separate bilateral meeting with her South Korean and the Philippines counterparts. 

Discussions on how the two countries have moved forward with relations based on friendship, mutual respect, and understanding and to further strengthen the relation in the coming days were made in the bilateral meeting between Nepali foreign minister Dr. Rana and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Cho Tae-yul. 

In the meeting, various aspects of Nepal-Korea relations, mutual interests, and common interests along with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Korea, which both countries are celebrating this year, were discussed. 

Dr Rana expressed gratitude on behalf of the government of Nepal to Korea for providing employment opportunities to Nepali citizens through the EPS system and scholarships offered by the government of South Korea. 

Likewise, foreign minister Dr Rana and Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines Enrique A. Manalo held meeting on Tuesday. 

Issues of mutual interest and possible future cooperation and coordination were discussed during the meeting. 

In the same meeting, Dr Rana asked for support from the Philippines as Nepal has given its candidacy in the Human Rights Council, and Security Council of the United Nations, according to the secretariat of the foreign minister, Dr Rana.
