Damauli (Tanahun), Sept 18 : The Bandipur-based National Research Goat Station is gradually gaining identity of a study hub for those adopting agriculture and livestock.
People are coming to the station daily to obtain knowledge about agriculture and livestock rearing. In a year, 8,000 visitors have taken information about the station. Last year, 7,964 people had visited the research station. According to Station Chief Raju Kandel, students of agriculture, livestock and forestry are coming here for study and exposure. "It has become the destination for the federal and provincial ministers, lawmakers and leaders of different parties", he shared.
The station has been developing technology and distributing advanced and local breeds of goat, lamb and grass, as well as preserving local breeds.
According to the station, 286 goats have been provided breeding services from pure boer goats in the same fiscal year. Similarly, stool samples of 455 shoes were collected and 1,570 goats were treated.
In the fiscal year 2080÷81, the station had produced more goats than the target. It had produced 70 khari goats against the target of producing 34 in a year.
Kandel informed that goats of Khari, Sinhal, Barbari, Jamunapari Cross, Shuddh Bor, Bor Cross, Shuddh Sanan and Saanen Cross have been produced from the station. (RSS)
